The 44 small churches you pass as you walk through the Valleys have represented an essential reference point for the communities to which they belonged over the centuries: they were the place where fundamental stages in the life of every individual, family unit, and community took place: Christian initiation (with baptism and the Eucharist), marriage, and funeral. The Pro Loco Nediške Doline organizes visits upon request so you can learn about and visit the church where your family experienced one of these moments. Join us for an emotional, spiritual, and cultural experience that takes you back to the most intimate roots of your family history.

Single person: €60 . The price includes a car transfer from Cividale del Friuli, a guided tour with a local expert of the church and the surrounding geographical and cultural environment. Duration: 3 hours.

Groups (5 to 8 people): €250 . The price includes transportation by minibus (maximum 8 seats) from Cividale del Friuli, a guided tour with a local expert of the church of interest and the surrounding geographical and cultural environment. Duration: 3 hours.

The advantage is that you can visit, with an expert guide who knows the history, traditions, and art of these places, religious buildings that are normally off-limits to visitors. These, along with all the small churches scattered throughout the Natisone valleys, are the expression of a true school of architecture centered in Škofja Loka, Slovenia, whose tradition lasted from the 15th to the mid-16th century. We'll take you inside these buildings to discover their beauty (wooden altars, frescoes, votive statues) and to experience the thrill of discovering the places where your family of origin lived through important stages in their lives.
