Palazzo Iacovone, birthplace of Prof. C. de Horatiis, Ancient Underground Oil Mill
Palazzo Iacovone, a medieval building listed as a Historic Italian Residence, is the birthplace of Professor Cosmo de Horatiis (September 25, 1771), chamberlain to King Francis I of Bourbon, the father and promoter of Italian Homeopathy. The palace houses both the private library, with over 2,000 antique volumes (including some authentic texts by de Horatiis and the original of the Italian Constitution published in the Official Gazette on December 27, 1947), and the ancient underground olive oil mill, contemporary with the palace, whose interior was carved by master quarrymen into the clearly visible rock of the town.
