Arts/Culture/Events

Since May 11, 2022, the Commenda di San Giovanni di Prè in Genoa has been home to the MEI, the National Museum of Italian Emigration, a multimedia museum dedicated to the story of Italian migration to the world. The exhibition unfolds through 16 areas that retrace the history of migration from the unification of Italy to the contemporary era. At the MEI, the life stories of those who led the emigration process come together. Documents from state and local institutions, archives, museums, and emigrant associations come together to create a single narrative, showcasing the phenomenon of migration in its many facets.
